We are delighted to announce the formation of DC Velo Outreach Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, whose focus is on promoting kids bicycle safety and other cycling related charitable causes.
The Foundation was a natural extension of our continued club commitment to charitable community work. As many know, our club raised money in years past for the college tuitions of former teammate Carl Dolan's children, who tragically died at the Church Creek time trial in 1999. By 2003, we were raising over $15,000 a year (at $5.00 a raffle ticket) for the Carl Dolan Memorial Children's Scholarship Fund. A tribute to Carl Dolan can be found here. The Carl Dolan Memorial Scholarship Fund is now closed, and we did our part to ensure the money was there for Carl's children.
