The Carl Doland Memorial Scholarship Fund
In 1999, our team mate and friend Carl Dolan died of heat exhaustion during the 1999 District 20 Time Trial Championship in Church Creek, Maryland. Carl is survived by his wife Nina and three sons Tom, Nick, and Pete. We'll always remember Carl as a dedicated and enthusiastic member of our club. Carl found pure enjoyment in riding and racing his bike, even arriving early and happy for the cold, dark 7AM winter rides. His enthusiasm was infectious and affected us greatly. More importantly, we will remember Carl as a warm, loving, caring individual who loved his family and his friends. We will miss him greatly. In tribute to Carl, DC Velo has renamed our spring classic race the Carl Dolan Memorial Spring Classic. To help Carl's family, DC Velo has engaged in a variety of fund raising efforts.
