The Dc Devo program represents a new vision for regional U19 elite cycling in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The goal is to offer a focused, sustainable organization dedicated to supporting a nationally recognized U19 racing program founded on teamwork, professionalism, and holistic personal development for young men and women.
We seek to create one of the top U19 programs in the country to compete in national and international races against the best teams. Ultimately, the objective is to place riders in the professional ranks and produce a World Tour rider from the region by 2028.
The team builds on the success of the DC Velo development team and will be managed by the DC Velo organization. The team’s riders are among the top-ranked in the country and in 2019 won the national road race championship for 15-16 boys. The team will be supported by Total Civil Construction p/b Battley Harley-Davidson, one of the top amateur elite teams in the United States. It is sponsored by DC Velo, Total Civil Construction, and Conte’s Bike Shop.
By drawing on the depth of racing experience and talent in this area, the program aims to address the high barriers to entry for young riders who seek to compete on a national stage. Local cycling clubs generally cannot marshal the resources or combine the talent to support a team that can travel nationally and compete successfully at the highest level. The dcDevo program seeks to overcome these barriers by drawing on the best of the participating teams and sponsors to create a well-supported program. We hope to inspire the local racing community including participants, rider families, sponsors, supporters, U19 riders, and fans.
The team will be directed by Justin Mauch (Marc Pro Cycling Team), with support from Justin Bowes of the Miller School Endurance Team.
