Kay Hits The 50+ 4-Spot At Ed Sander; Marchionini A Muddy 6th In The 40+

It was not raining by the 1:00 p.m. start of the Men's 50+ race at the 2017 edition of the Ed Sander Memorial Cyclocross - Event #6 in the BikeReg Super Series in Adamstown, MD, on Sun Nov 5, 2017 but it didn't need to be did it?

A steady rain over the previous 15 hours, plus 7 or 8 events already contested on the day did a sterling job of softening the course into a sloppy, muddy mess that had otherwise highly skilled riders duck-walking up hills and clipping out to slide-pivot around off camber corners.

David Kay took full advantage of his hard earned, front row starting slot and motored away with the race leaders on the first lap of 5 in the 50+ contest for a solid 4th place finish.

Brian Marchionini actually took the hole shot away from all of the CX partisans and led the field through the first turf section before giving up a handful of spots for a very respectable 6th place.
