Nick Taylor Captures A 2-Up Sprint For The 35+ Win At The AVC Road Race

On a hot, humid, 90+ degree day that more resembled August than April, Nick Taylor joined DCVelo's Brian Marchionini and 4 others in a move that went clear of the field shortly after the first of five trips up the Mt. Nebo climb.  This would prove to be decisive first move of the day as the group rolled well and gained as much as a couple-minute advantage over the field by the midway point of the race.

The second deciding move came with several miles to go when Nathan Coleman (Catoctin Cycling Club) attacked the breakaway group on a slight uphill section and Taylor was the only one with an answer.  The two rode it in together with Taylor proving to be the more worthy closer for the first win of the 2017 campaign.

DC Velo's D.J. Brew book-ended the top 5 by taking the field sprint.

The 35+ podium (L-R): Nathan Coleman, Nick Taylor, Baby Church and Grayson Church
